Really full on brownies with intense dark chocolate flavour and hazelnuts- what’s not to like? Half recipe works fine using the loaf tin to make approx 7 brownies which works for a week

Instructions

Step 1
Preheat oven to 150 degC (fan)

Step 2
Line a 30 x 20 cm tin with baking paper
Step 3
Sift flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt in a small bowl
Step 4
Break 250g off chocolate into heatproof bowl and place over on of simmering water to melt
Step 5
When chocolate has melted, remove from heat and set aside to cool slightly
Step 6
Roughly chop remaining chocolate and set aside
Step 7
Beat butter and sugar in a large bowl until very light and fluffy
Step 8
Add eggs one at a time then pour in melted chocolate and mix thoroughly
Step 9
As a third of the flour mixture and stir to combine Repeat twice for the remaining flour
Step 10
Add half the hazelnuts and the chopped chocolate and stir to combine
Step 11
Scrape mixture into baking tin and sprinkle remaining hazelnuts on top
Step 12
Bake in oven for 30 mins, checking after 25 mins Toothpick should come out with a few crumbs attached - not wet but not completely clean
Step 13
Leave brownies to cook in tin - ideally overnight before removing and cutting into pieces
