Ingredients

2 lbsTart cooking apples
2 Tbspflour
½ csugar
1 ½ Tbspfresh lemon juice
½ tspcinnamon
½ tspallspice
¼ tspground ginger
¼ tspnutmeg
¼ tspsalt
4 Tbspbutter
For the crust
Instructions
Step 1
For crust sift flour and salt into bowl
Step 2
Add cold butter and shortening and cut in with a pastry blender. With a fork stir in enough water to bind the dough
Step 3
Gather into 2 balls, wrap in plastic wrap and chill for 20 min
Step 4
Roll out dough to 1/8 in thick and transfer to a 9 in pie pan. Preheat oven to 425 degrees
Step 5
Peel, core, and slice apples and place in bowl. Toss with flour, sugar, lemon juice, spices and salt. Place into pie pan and top with dots of butter
Step 6
Top with second crust
Step 7
Bake for 10 min. Reduce heat to 350 degrees and bake for 40-50 min
