Instructions
Step 1
Bring the milk to a boil, then remove from the heat and add butter. Leave to cool until it reaches hand temperature.
Step 2
Mix the flour, yeast, suger and salt in a big bowl. Mix the milk and the beaten egg into the dry ingredients with a wooden spoon.
Step 3
Knead for 10 minutes. (or use the dough hook attachment on your mixer)
Step 4
Put dough back into the bowl and cover with a clean tea towel and leave to rise until it has doubled in size.
Preheat oven to 170°C
Step 5
Gently knead the risen dough 5 times to get the air out. Cut dough into even pieces, roll each piece into a ball and sit on a lightly greased baking tray. (remember they need space to grow)
Step 6
Bake the doughnuts for 12-15 minutes until risen and dark golden.
Step 7
Let them cool for a few minutes then brush in melted butter and suger.
Step 8
Put some Caramel in a piping bag. Poke a hole in each doughnut then push the nozzle and squeeze in a little Caramel.
Step 9
Best served warm.
