Instructions

Step 1
Place apples, lemon juice, apple juice and 1 c of the brown sugar in a large pan and bring to a simmer over med/high heat.
Step 2
Cover and let simmer for 20 minutes or until very soft. Remove from heat.
Step 3
In a blender, pulse the apples a few times. Do this is small batches. Do not make applesauce here. You’re only looking to break up the pieces a bit. Put the apples back into the pot.
Step 4
Add in the remaining brown sugar and spices. Bring back up to a simmer and stir constantly until it reaches your desired thickness. For me this took about 10 minutes.
