Cake:

1 cupshortening

2 cupssugar

5eggs

2 cupsflour

1 ½ teaspoonsbaking powder

1 teaspoonsalt

½ cupmilk

1 teaspooncoconut flavoring
1can angel flake coconut

Step 1
Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs one at a time. Mix flour, baking powder and salt. Add alternately with milk and flavoring. Add coconut and mix. Pour into ungreased tube pan.
Step 2
Bake at 350°F for 1 hour or until toothpick comes out clean.
Step 3
Boil, sugar, water and flavoring. Bring to a simmer, stirring to dissolve the sugar, then continue to simmer for 2-3 minutes. Drizzle over cake.
