Instructions
Step 1
Combine butter, milk, sugar and chopped dates in pan, stir over heat until butter is melted, bring to boil, remove from heat, stir in soda, stand 5 minutes.
Step 2
Stir in lightly beaten eggs and sifted flour in two lots, mix well.
Step 3
Pour mixture into well-greased 20 cm ring tin, bake in moderate oven for 40 minutes. Turn into wire rack to cool.
