Step 1

Preheat oven to 375 degrees

Step 2
In a large mixing bowl beat the shortening and butter with mixer on medium to high speed for 30 seconds

Add granulated sugar, brown sugar, and baking soda. Beat mixture until combined, scraping sides of bowl

Beat in eggs and vanilla till combined
Step 5

Beat in as much of the flour as you can with the mixer

Stir in remaining flour

Stir in chocolate pieces
Step 8

Drop dough by rounded teaspoons 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. I line cookie sheet with parchment paper

Bake in oven 8 to 10 minutes or until edges are lightly browned
Step 10

Transfer cookies to a wire rack to cool
