These Cherry Pie Bars taste just like a cherry pie without the hassle! They are soft, chewy, and exploding in flavour! It uses cherry pie filling which makes the process much easier to put together. It is the perfect spring or summertime treat!

1 Tbspalmond extract
or vanilla
1 ½ cupsall-purpose flour
1 x 540mlcan cherry pie filling

Instructions
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 350°F and line and lightly grease and 8×8 inch square pan.

In a stand mixer or a handheld mixer cream together the butter and sugar on high for 2-3 minutes.

Add in the egg and vanilla and mix until smooth.

Turn the mixer on low and add in the flour until a soft dough forms.
Step 5
Transfer 3/4 of the dough into the pan and press it down into the pan evenly and firmly.
Step 6
Add an even layer of cherry pie filling.

Add tablespoon dollops on top with the remaining 1/4 of the dough base.
Step 8
Place into the oven for 25-30 minutes. The top will be a light colour, but the base will be a golden brown on the edges. This is how you'll know it's done.
Step 9
To create the glaze, mix together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla.

Allow to cool completely before glazing.

Drizzle on top of cooled bars, slice, and enjoy!
