Broccoli Cheddar Pasta Sauce with Bacon

This is a cheesy pasta sauce with broccoli and bacon! Top it with some hot sauce for some heat. You can swap out the milk for half and half if you want a creamier sauce.

Instructions

Step 1
Slice the bacon into 1/2 inch pieces and cook on the stovetop over medium heat for about 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they become crispy and brown.
Step 2
In a wide saucepan melt the butter. Once it’s melted add the flour and whisk together. Then add salt, mustard, garlic powder, and black pepper.
Step 3
Slowly add in the milk while whisking vigorously. Continue cooking for 2-3 minutes until it thickens.
Step 4
Add in 14 ounces of freshly shredded sharp cheddar (do not use preshredded because it won’t melt as well). Add in a little bit at a stir until it’s melted.
Step 5
Cook the pasta in boiling water. After about five minutes add the broccoli.
Step 6
When the pasta is done add it to the cheese sauce. Serve with the bacon and hot sauce on top.
