Step 1
preheat the oven to 375° F

in a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and baking soda

in a separate bowl, whisk together the melted butter, light brown sugar, and granulated sugar

add the eggs and vanilla extract to the butter and sugar mixture and continue to whisk

once well combined, add in the flour and mix until a soft dough-like texture forms

pour in the chocolate chips and mix well

use a tablespoon to scoop the dough onto a baking tray lined with parchment paper, about 2-3 inches apart as the cookies will spread in the oven

use your thumb to press an indent in the center of each cookie

place the tray in the fridge for 10-12 minutes so the dough can cool
Step 10
while the dough cools, unwrap the chewy caramel candies (i used werther’s original brand) and cut them in half so they are about 1/2 inch thick

press the caramels into the center of each cookie, then bake for 8-10 minutes

enjoy while warm for a creamy caramel center, or let cool for a chewier texture
