Step 1
Heat a large pot over medium high heat.
Step 2
Add the ground beef and squeeze the sausage from its casing into the beef. Add the chopped onion and garlic cloves. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Step 3
You can cut up the rest of the sausage into halves or thirds and throw it into the meat as well or you can save it for another use or to brown on the grill or under the broiler if you want it sauce-free.
Step 4
Add tomato sauce, paste, water and seasonings. Allow to simmer a couple of water. Adjust seasonings, and salt, pepper and sugar to taste after simmering for at least an hour.
