Buttermilk Biscuits

Instructions

Step 1
Mix together all of the dry ingredients.
Step 2
Using a pastry blender or your fingertips cut the butter into the flour mixture to create a bowl of shaggy looking crumbs.
Step 3
Add the buttermilk and stir to combine.
Step 4
Gently knead the dough together 5 or six times on the counter top and then press it into a large square about 1” thick.
Step 5
Cut the square into 9 pieces and transfer the biscuits to a parchment lined baking pan. Place them so close to one another that they almost touch. You can make these ahead and bake just before serving
Step 6
Preheat oven to 425F
Step 7
Bake biscuits for 15 - 20 minutes or until puffed and golden.
Step 8
Remove from the oven, brush the tops with butter and serve.
