Step 1
Cream together butter and sugar then add the vanilla extract

Beat in flour, cornstarch and salt. The texture will be sand-like but don't worry, ball the dough. This should yield 6 cookies
Step 3
Press hearts into the dough and put in the freezer for for half an hour to prevent spreading
Step 4
Preheat oven to 375F. Heat the jam for a few seconds to make it pourable then fill the thumbprints with jam and bake for 10-12 min
