Step 1
1. On a large sheet of parchment paper, stretch the pizza dough into a circle or an oval (depending on the shape of your 5- to 6-quart slow cooker) that is about 2 inches bigger all around than the insert of your slow cooker. Use the edges of the parchment to lift and then lower the crust (still on the parchment) into the slow cooker. Gently tug and stretch the dough up the sides of the insert.
Step 2
2. Scatter the cheese over the surface of the pizza dough. Add any additional toppings over the cheese, then spread the tomato sauce over the toppings. Again, lift and stretch the edges of the crust so that it reaches above the filling.

3. Cover the top of the slow cooker with a long piece of paper towel, then place the lid over the paper towel and pull it tight.
Step 4
4. Cook the pizza on High for 2 to 3 hours or on Low for 4 to 5 hours, until the crust is golden brown but still tender enough to cut. When you are ready to serve, use the edges of the parchment paper to lift the pizza out of the slow cooker. Let sit for 5 to 10 minutes before cutting into quarters. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and basil, if desired.
