Step 1
1. Preheat oven to 400°.
Step 2
2. Combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, scallions, garlic, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly. Form into balls 1-2 inches in diameter and place in a shallow baking dish.
Step 3
3. Whisk together pineapple, grapefruit juice, ginger, soy sauce, peppercorns, and cornstarch. Pour over the meatballs.
Step 4
4. Cover with foil, cutting a few vents in the top, and bake for 45-60 minutes. (Remove foil last 10-15 minutes for a thicker sauce.)
Step 5
(Meatballs and sauce can be prepared separately and combined just before serving if desired.)
