This is Sharon's Marinara recipe. If you have other vegetables lying around (onion, carrots, red pepper) feel free to add those while sauteing to turn it into a ragu.

Instructions

Step 1
Sautee shallots in olive oil until somewhat translucent

Add garlic and sautee until fragrant

Once garlic is fragrant, add Tomato paste and stir a minute or until a little fond develops

Deglaze with Red wine

Add Canned crushed tomatoes

Add fresh basil

A little sugar, salt, pepper (if desired, to taste)

Simmer for as long as you can to develop flavors.
