Instructions
Step 1
Put the oven onto 200’C and line a large baking tray with foil and oil.
Step 2
Slice the skin off your sausages and put the meat in a bowl. Put the skins in the bin.
Step 3
Mash the sausage meat with a fork
Step 4
If you are making one large sausage plait, roll out the puff pastry into one large rectangle (slightly smaller than an A3 piece of paper). Alternatively cut the pastry into 4 quarters and roll each one to about 25cm x 20cm.
Step 5
Put the pastry on the baking tray and slice down one side of the pastry, every 1 to 2cm. Match these slices on the other side.
Step 6
Crack your egg into a small bowl and whisk lightly with a fork. Using a pastry brush, coast the pastry.
Step 7
Spread your sausage meat down the middle of the pastry. Add any additions on top.
Step 8
Lift the middle top of your pastry, cover with the top left flap. Place the right flap over the top. Repeat to the bottom. At the bottom, lift the middle and cover with left flap. Finish with the right flap. Neaten the cross overs.
Step 9
Glaze with egg and top with any decorations if you wish
Step 10
Cook until golden brown and the centre is 75’C
