In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar with an electric mixer. Add vanilla and eggs, beat until combined. Stir together flours, salt, baking powder, and baking soda in a separate bowl, add to butter mixture. Beat until combined. Stir in chocolate chips and walnuts. Then, cover and chill for at least 1 hour. Preheat oven to 350 F. Drop chilled dough by tablespoonfuls onto parchment lined baking sheets, about 2 inches apart. Bake 10 to 12 minutes. Let cookies cool 2 minutes on baking sheet before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
