Instructions
Step 1
1. Boil the macaroni and cook to al dente while the beef is cooking
Step 2
2. In a skillet over medium heat, brown and crumble the ground beef
Step 3
3. Add onion to the skillet when ground beef is about half done, cooking the onion alone with the beef.
Step 4
4. Add the diced tomatoes. Mix well.
Step 5
5. Add the tomato sauce. Mix well.
Step 6
6. Add the butter, sugar and Italian Seasoning.
Step 7
7. Simmer over low heat for 20 minutes.
Step 8
8. There are two options for the macaroni. (A) Add all the macaroni to the Goulash mixture. (B) Scoop macaroni into individual servings and pour the Goulash mixture over the individual servings. This way, left over macaroni and sauce can be stored separately and used later without making macaroni mushy.
Step 9
9. Top with cheddar cheese if desired and serve immediately.
Step 10
• Determine if you will brown your ground hamburger and onion in a skillet and then transfer to a larger pan to accommodate the other ingredients better OR just start out in a larger pan browning your ground hamburger and onion and then add the other ingredients
Step 11
• Cook the Goulash sauce the day before…it gets better the next day 😊
