Step 1
Preheat the oven to 180°C/Gas 4.

Get a dish or loaf shaped foil container.

Sieve the flour into a mixing bowl and add the butter (room temperature and cubed).

Rub it in together with your fingertips until it resembles breadcrumbs. Then add the sugar.

If you are using apples or pear, after peeling, cutting and slicing, put it in a bowl of cold water to prevent browning. Add any fruit of choice into the bottom of the dish, the thicker the layer of fruit, the better.

Coat the fruit with sugar make sure its evenly spread. Then sprinkle the crumble mix on top of the fruit evenly.

Bake for 25-30 mins in the middle of the oven or until golden brown. If it still looks pale after 25 minutes, do not worry, as long as the fruit is bubbling and it's even in the oven for 20 mins it is cooked! Obviously if you like it crunchy then leave it till golden brown :)
