Golden Syrup Dumplings

Did you have this growing up in your Aussie household?! Jacob couldn’t believe I’d never heard of golden syrup dumplings, but I can totally see how this was popular back in the day
One day when I’m a grandma I’m going to make this for all my grandchildren to make sure I am the favourite grandparent (on both sides of the family)

Instructions
Step 1
To make the dumplings, add the self raising flour to a mixing bowl with the butter and rub the butter into the flour, then add the milk and golden syrup and mix until combined
Step 2
Add the other ingredients to a large saucepan and bring to a simmer
Step 3
Scoop up about 2 tbsp of the dumpling mixture and place into the simmering saucepan, until all the mixture is used up
Step 4
Simmer for about 20 minutes, occasionally stirring
Step 5
Serve in a bowl with vanilla ice cream and enjoy!
