Step 1
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Cream the butter and powdered sugar together until light and fluffy. Stir in the vanilla.

Sift in the flour and salt, and mix until a dough forms.

On a floured surface, roll out the dough to 1/4 inch thickness. Cut into Christmas tree shapes using a cookie cutter.

Place the cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are just starting to brown.

Let the cookies cool on the sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
