1 ½ cupPinto beans
1 Slicebacon
thick cut
¼ cupsalt pork
cooking 3/4 of the way is optional to remove excess oil
1garlic clove
4 slicesjalapenos
optional
¼ cupwhite onion
chopped, optional
½ cuptomato
chopped, optional
2 tsphimalayan salt
½ tspblack pepper
¼ tspgarlic powder
4 cupswater
to start
⅓ cupCilantro
optional 30 minutes end of cook
Instructions
Step 1
Spread beans on the table to remove any dirt, dried or half pinto beans. Then rinse beans before adding them to the slow cooker
Step 2
Add 4 cups of water and set temperature to high
Step 3
add all the rest of ingredients and stir lightly
Step 4
Check every hour to stir or add additional water 1/4 to 1/2 cups each time depending on slow cooker and how much water is needed.
Step 5
Cooking time is about 3 to 4 hours max depending on slow cooker
Step 6
Beans are done when the bean(s) are easy to squish check by hand between your fingers or with a utensil.
