Instructions
Step 1
Slice the brioche bread into 2 cm cubes.
Step 2
Use softened butter to grease your baking dish and coat it well, ensuring all surfaces are covered.
Step 3
Layer the cubed bread evenly into the greased baking dish.
Step 4
Add chopped walnuts, chocolate chips, and raspberries on top of the bread cubes. Mix them well so they are evenly distributed throughout the dish.
Step 5
In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, heavy cream, eggs, brown sugar, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla extract until well combined.
Step 6
Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread in the baking dish, ensuring all the bread cubes are coated.
Step 7
Cover the baking dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or preferably overnight, to allow the bread to soak up the egg mixture.
Step 8
When ready to bake, preheat the oven to 170 degrees Celsius (340 degrees Fahrenheit).
Step 9
Remove the plastic wrap from the baking dish and bake the casserole uncovered in the preheated oven for 45 to 50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Step 10
Once baked, remove the casserole from the oven and let it sit for 5-10 minutes before serving to allow it to set slightly. Serve the brioche French toast casserole warm, optionally with maple syrup, powdered sugar, or additional fresh fruit on top. Enjoy your delicious breakfast or brunch!
