Step 1
Add potatoes to a large pot. Fill with cold water, bring to a boil, add 1-3 tablespoons salt, and cook potatoes until tender, about 12-15 minutes.
Step 2
Meanwhile add the heavy cream and butter to a small saucepan and heat until warmed through and butter is melted.
Step 3
Drain the potatoes. Add in the cream and butter, 1 tbsp salt, pepper, garlic powder and sour cream. With a potato masher, mash the potatoes until creamy. Add more milk as needed. If you like them very smooth finish with a hand mixer.
Step 4
Add more seasoning to taste.
