Instructions
Step 1
In a saucepan melt butter or margarine. Stir in
flour. Cook and stir over medium-low heat for
15 to 20 minutes or till browned. Dissolve
bouillon granules in hot water; add to flour
mixture. Bring to boiling, stirring constantly
Boil for 3 to 5 minutes. Reduce heat and sim-
mer about 30 minutes or till reduced to 1 cup
liquid; stir frequently. Consistency of sauce
should be slightly thinner than gravy. Serve
with meat, use instead of gravy, or use as a
base for Sauce Diable. Makes about 1 cup.
