Instructions
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 and line an 8x8 baking tin with parchment paper.
Step 2
Cream together softened butter and sugar.
Step 3
Mix in egg, egg yolk, and vanilla extract.
Step 4
Gently fold in cornstarch, cream of tartar, baking soda, salt, and flour.
Step 5
Press dough evenly into lined 8x8 baking tin.
Step 6
Bake at 350 for 26-28 minutes.
Step 7
Once baked, remove from oven and let cool fully.
Step 8
While cookie bars are cooling, make frosting.
Step 9
Using a stand or hand mixer, beat 1/2 cup softened butter until fluffy and light in color.
Step 10
Gradually mix in powdered sugar while mixing.
Step 11
Add in vanilla extract, salt, and food coloring (optional).
Step 12
Once cookie bars are cooled, spread frosting over top and add sprinkles if desired. Slice and enjoy!
