Instructions
Step 1
1. Sauté onions with butter, sugar, bay leaf and pepper until onions are soft. Remove from heat when done.
Step 2
2. Stir in flour gradually until gooey, sticky and lumpy.
Step 3
3. Add stock gradually.
Step 4
4. Stir in cream.
Step 5
5. Return to low heat, stirring constantly
Step 6
6. Let simmer 5 to 10 minutes
Step 7
7. Garnish with grated Swiss and/or Monterey jack cheese
