Brown the Sausage Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sausages and cook until they are nicely browned on both sides, about 7 to 10 minutes. Once done, remove the sausages from the pan and set aside.

Sauté the Vegetables In the same pan, using the remaining oil, add the sliced bell peppers and onions. Sauté until they are slightly softened and golden brown, about 5 minutes.

Add Aromatics Stir in the garlic, Italian seasoning, and chopped basil. Continue to cook for another 2 minutes until fragrant.

Deglaze and Simmer Pour in the Marsala wine (or chicken broth) to deglaze the pan, scraping up any bits stuck to the bottom. Add the diced tomatoes, tomato paste, and red pepper flakes if using. Stir well to combine.

Combine and Cook Return the sausages to the skillet with the vegetables. Season with salt and pepper to taste, then bring the mixture to a simmer. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 15 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened and the flavors are well blended.
