Instructions

Step 1
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9x13-inch baking dish with parchment paper or grease it with non-stick spray.
Step 2
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
Step 3
In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. This should take about 3-4 minutes.
Step 4
Add the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract (if using), and beat until combined.
Step 5
Stir in the sour cream or yogurt until well combined.
Step 6
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just incorporated. The dough will be thick.
Step 7
Press the dough evenly into the prepared baking dish. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Step 8
Let the bars cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.
Step 9
While the bars are cooling, prepare the frosting: In a medium bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar, milk, vanilla extract, and almond extract (if using), and beat until smooth and fluffy.
Step 10
Once the bars have cooled, spread the frosting evenly over the top.
Step 11
Decorate with red and green sprinkles to make them extra festive.
Step 12
Cut into squares and serve.
