Instructions
Step 1
Combine the garlic powder, chili powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, sea salt, ground cumin, and black pepper in a small bowl.
Step 2
Pat the ribs dry with paper towels and rub the spice mixture generously over each section of the ribs, pressing the spices into the meat.
Step 3
Place the metal rack into the bottom of the Instant Pot. Add the water or broth to the Instant Pot.
Step 4
Arrange the ribs on the rack, standing each section up on its end and leaning them against one another.
Step 5
Place the lid on the Instant Pot and lock it into place. Flip the valve to the ‘Sealing’ position.
Step 6
Select the high-pressure setting and set the cooking time to 30 minutes. It will take several minutes for the Instant Pot to build up pressure before the 30-minute timer starts.
Step 7
Once the cooking time is up, immediately release the pressure by flipping the valve to the ‘Venting’ position.
Step 8
Preheat the broiler to medium-high heat. Remove the ribs from the Instant Pot and place them on a rimmed baking sheet (line the baking sheet with foil for easy clean up).
Step 9
Brush the ribs with barbecue sauce on both sides.
Step 10
Broil for 3-5 minutes or until the sauce is bubbly and slightly caramelized.
Step 11
Cut into individual ribs for serving.
