Step 1
In pot, heat oil over medium high heat. Add beef; cook until browned, 8 minutes. Add wine; cook 2-3 minutes. Add tomatoes, onions, bay leaves; cover and reduce heat to low. Cook until tender. ~1 1/2 hours. Add remaining vegetables; cover and cook until vegetables are tender, about 30 minutes. In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and 1T water; stir into stew. Cook until thickened, 3-5 minutes. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
