Instructions

Step 1
Get the potatoes mashed: Peel and cube the potatoes, then boil them in salted water for 15 to 20 minutes until they are soft. After draining, mash the potatoes until smooth, adding butter, milk, salt, and pepper. Put aside.
Step 2
To prepare the meat filling: Heat a large skillet over medium heat with olive oil. Saute the chopped carrots and onions for five minutes, or until they are tender. Cook for one more minute after adding the minced garlic. Using a wooden spoon, break up the ground beef or lamb before adding it. Cook until browned. Add the Worcestershire sauce, tomato paste, thyme, rosemary, salt, and pepper. Stir thoroughly. After adding the broth, boil the mixture for ten minutes, or until it has slightly thickened. Stir the corn and frozen peas together. Take off the heat.
Step 3
Put the Shepherd's Pie together: Set the oven temperature to 400°F, or 200°C. Spread the meat filling evenly after transferring it to a baking tray. Use a spatula to spread the mashed potatoes evenly over the meat layer after spooning them on. For a crispy topping, make ridges on the potato's surface with a fork. If desired, top with shredded cheddar cheese.
Step 4
Bake: Put the baking dish in the oven that has been preheated, and bake it for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the edges are bubbling and the top is golden. Before serving, allow it to cool for five minutes.
