Prepare the chocolate bark: Melt the chocolate and stir in some M&M’s. Spread the mixture evenly onto a parchment-lined tray. Top with additional candy such as M&M’s, KitKat pieces, or chopped chocolate bars. Let the bark set completely, then break or chop it into small shards. Brown the butter: In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat until it turns golden and develops a nutty aroma. Set aside to cool slightly. Combine wet ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the browned butter, brown sugar, and white sugar until well combined. Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth. Add dry ingredients: Sift together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Add to the wet mixture and stir until just combined. Fold in chocolate bark shards: Gently mix in the prepared chocolate bark pieces. Chill the dough: Cover and refrigerate for 2–3 hours. Bake: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Scoop the dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 10–15 minutes, or until golden around the edges. Finish and serve: While still warm, press a few extra chocolate bark shards on top. Allow to cool slightly, then enjoy!
