Instructions
Step 1
Preheat the Griddle:
Step 2
Start by preheating your Blackstone griddle or a large flat pan over medium-high heat. Once it’s hot, lightly oil the surface with vegetable oil or butter to prevent sticking.
Step 3
2. Prepare the Beef:
Step 4
Take the ground beef and divide it into 4 equal portions. Loosely shape each portion into a ball; remember not to overwork the meat, as we want juicy burgers!
Step 5
3. Smash the Burgers:
Step 6
Place the beef balls onto the hot griddle, making sure to space them apart. Using a large spatula or burger press, smash each ball down firmly into a thin patty. Hold the press for about 10 seconds to help form a good crust.
Step 7
4. Season the Patties:
Step 8
Sprinkle the patties with salt, pepper, and garlic powder for great flavor. This is where the seasoning really elevates the taste!
Step 9
5. Cook the First Side:
Step 10
Let the patties cook for about 2-3 minutes on the first side. You’re looking for browning and crispy edges, so resist the urge to flip too early.
Step 11
6. Add Cheese and Flip:
Step 12
Carefully flip the patties and place a slice of cheddar cheese on each one. Cook for another 1-2 minutes until the cheese is melted and the patties are cooked through.
Step 13
7. Toast the Buns:
Step 14
While the patties finish cooking, take the buns and place them on the griddle to toast until they’re lightly browned and warm. This adds a nice texture!
Step 15
8. Make the Burger Sauce:
Step 16
In a small bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, ketchup, and mustard to create a quick and tasty burger sauce.
