Instructions
Step 1
Put beans, herbs & spices, stock cubes in a large pot with enough water to cover everything, while the stove is on. Dont be shy with the spice. Moer in, bietjie van alles wat jy het.
Step 2
Mix everything well and add the eisbein, add more water so that everything is covered.
Step 3
When beans are soft enough, take out eisbein and mash the beans in the pot.
Step 4
Add one other Pak of whatever (soup mix, peas, lentils etc. your choice), mix everything well.
Step 5
Put eisbein back in pot. Make sure eisbein is covered with fluid. Add more water if needed.
Step 6
Cook really slowly on very low heat, for a long time.
Step 7
Taste and see if you want to add more flavors.
Step 8
When eisbein has fallen apart, take out the skins and cut it into small pieces and put it back in the pot. Mix well.
Step 9
Taste the soup --- add more spice if you think it needs more flavour. Add more water depending on how thick you want your soup to be.
Step 10
Continue to cook slowly until you think it is ready.
