Instructions
Step 1
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray or butter.
Step 2
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and diced onion. Cook until the beef is browned and the onions are soft (about 6–8 minutes), breaking the meat apart as it cooks.
Step 3
Drain off any excess grease.
Step 4
Stir in the minced garlic, paprika, oregano, salt, and pepper. Cook for another 1 minute until fragrant, then remove from heat.
Step 5
In a medium bowl, whisk together the cream soup and milk until smooth. (If you prefer not to use soup, simply mix 1 cup of heavy cream with a pinch of garlic powder, salt, and pepper).
Step 6
Arrange half of the thinly sliced potatoes in an even, overlapping layer at the bottom of your prepared baking dish. Season lightly with a pinch of salt and pepper.
Step 7
Spread the seasoned browned beef evenly over the potatoes.
Step 8
Pour half of the cream sauce mixture evenly over the beef, then sprinkle with half of the shredded cheese.
Step 9
Arrange the remaining potato slices over the cheese and pour rest of cream sauce over top.
