Instructions

Step 1
Preheat the oven to 375°F and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish. Mix the ground beef, egg, breadcrumbs, onion, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper, then shape into 6 thick hamburger steaks.
Step 2
Brown the hamburger steaks in a skillet for 2–3 minutes per side until nicely seared. Whisk together the cream of mushroom soup and beef broth, pour it into the baking dish, and arrange the browned steaks on top.
Step 3
Cover tightly with foil and bake for 30 minutes so the steaks cook through while staying tender and juicy.
Step 4
Remove the foil, top each steak with mozzarella and cheddar cheese, then bake uncovered for 10–15 minutes until the cheese is melted and lightly golden.
Step 5
Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving. Spoon the rich gravy over the hamburger steaks and serve with mashed potatoes, egg noodles, or crusty bread.
