Ingredients
4 servings
2 cupsall purpose flour
1 tablespoonbaking powder
1 tablespoonsugar
1 teaspoonsalt
½ teaspoonbaking soda
4 tablespoonsunsalted butter
cold, cut into cubes
1 ½ cupsbuttermilk
2 tablespoons melted butter
Instructions
Step 1
Combine dry ingredients in food processor. Pulse for 8 one second pulses.
Step 2
Place buttercup in food processor with dry ingredients. Pulse 10 times until mixture resembles clumpy, wet sand.
Step 3
Put flour mixture in large mixing bowl. Add buttermilk and mix. Note: do not over mix!
Step 4
With a small measuring cup, create a golf ball sized ball of flour and spoon into unused flour. Roll around in flour and shake excess. Place in greased, round baking pan. Make about one dozen biscuits. Brush tops of biscuits with melted butter.
Step 5
Place in 500 degree oven. Bake for 5 minutes.
Step 6
After 5 minutes, reduce oven temperature to 450. Bake for 15 more minutes.
