Fall Fruit Pie
Delicious with ripe pears, sweet and tart apples, and (what the heck) throw in some raisins and/or nuts for fun! Here's the basic recipe. Enjoy!

½ cupbutter
3Granny Smith apples
2Golden Delicious apples
2pears
D’Anjou, slightly hard
6 ouncesfresh cranberries
or frozen
½ cupgranulated sugar
½ cupbrown sugar
¼ cupall-purpose flour
0.25 stickbutter
½ cupall-purpose flour
½ cupbrown sugar
½ cupoats
old fashioned
½ teaspoonground cinnamon
Instructions
Step 1
Prepare pastry for a one-crust pan and form a pie shell
Step 2
For filling, place the butter in a heavy bottomed Dutch oven and melt over medium heat. Peel and core the apples and pears and slice into ¼ inch slices and add to the butter. Add the cranberries to the apples and pears. Add both sugars and flour and stir to combine.
Step 3
Cover and simmer gently for 5-10 minutes, being careful that the mixture does not stick to the bottom. The mixture should be thick and creamy and the fruit still a bit hard.
Step 4
Allow filling to cool slightly, then pour mixture into the prepared pie dish.
