Super Soft Classic Sugar Cookies
5 steps
Prep:35min
This recipe is was made at a high altitude of about 8000ft in elevation in my toaster oven. These are such a classic yet delicious melt in your mouth sugar cookie.
If you are baking this in a traditional oven you may try a higher temperature such as 350°F or you can try the temperature listed for a longer bake time if necessary.
The dough will be slightly moist, sticky and soft but moldable & hold their form until they make it into the oven. These are rolled into balls and will bake down into cookie shapes. This recipe is not ideal for cut out sugar cookies.

Instructions
Step 1
1 ☆ Cream the sugars & butter together. Once it has a nice fluffy consistency, add the egg & vanilla extract.
Step 2
2 ☆ Add the salt, baking soda. Briefly stir. Gradually add the flour and mix in until it forms a dough. This is not a crumbly dough. The dough should be easy to mold into a ball and hold its shape but still be soft and sticky. If needed, add more flour or moisture as needed to reach the desired consistency.
Step 3
3 ☆ Preheat oven to 325°F. Scoop dough into desired amount [2 tbsp is my go to!] and roll into a ball. Dip into a small bowl prepped sugar & add your desired amount of sugar. Then drop onto a baking sheet.
OvenPreheat
Step 4
4☆ Place them 2 inches apart as these will spread. Bake them for 8-10 minutes. You don't bake them too long. You want to pull them out as soon as edges of the cookies begin to turn light brown.
Step 5
☆ Let the cookies sit for a couple of minutes & then transfer them to cool off for as long as you can stand, & enjoy!
