Easy sugar cookies

Simple, classic, and easy sugar cookies. We added food coloring to ours just to add something to it. These would be fantastic for the holidays, you can add whatever topping you like, or just eat them plain with a glass of milk.

Instructions

Step 1
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).

Cream butter and sugar until smooth in a large bowl. Beat in egg and vanilla. Gradually blend in dry ingredients.

Mix into wet ingredients flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg and baking powder.

**IF NEEDED NOT REQUIRED** Once all ingredients are mixed, and dough is to crumbly, add water a tablespoon at a time until it reaches a dough consistency.
Step 5
Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls, and place onto ungreased cookie sheets. (I used parchment paper.)

Bake in the preheated oven until golden, 8 to 10 minutes. Let stand on cookie sheet for 2 minutes before removing to cool on wire racks.
