Instructions
Step 1
Rinse and sort the beans in a colander. Then grab your big pot and pour the beans, 1 tsp of salt, one large onion peeled and cut in half, and water. The water needs to be double the amount of beans. Try 16 cups of water or to the Max fill line in the Instant Pot. I always gauge about 4-5 inches above the beans of water.

Step 2
You can cook on the stove or use your Instant Pot. Stove top: They will cook for about 2 hours. Cook until the beans are nice and soft. I let the beans cool and store in the freezer what I don’t need for that night. Instant Pot: Use the beans/lentils button on the Instant Pot. Usually it’s 35 minutes.
Step 3
To “refry” them, I blend about 3 -4 cups of beans with liquid and then pour into a large pan and cook until they reach the thickness you want. You need to taste for salt too.
Step 4
The cooked beans will keep in the fridge for a week and freezer for 2 months
