Instructions

Step 1
1. Cook macaroni according to the instructions on the packet

2. Chop up bacon and onion and fry together in a frying pan (or cook for 1 minute in a microwave)

3. Grate the cheese

Preheat oven to 180°C on grill.

Make the white sauce by the roux method

• Melt butter gently in a saucepan
Step 6
• Add flour, stirring to make a smooth paste
Step 7
• Add milk gradually, stirring constantly until it thickens

• Add cheese, leaving about 6 tbsp aside for later

• Stir in cheese until melted and sauce is thick and creamy. Salt and pepper optional

Into the oven

5. Grease an oven dish.
Step 11
Put in macaroni, stir in sauce, bacon and onion. Sprinkle leftover cheese on top, along with breadcrumbs

6. Grill in the oven for 3-5 mins, or until golden on top
