Instructions

Step 1
Put cranberries into 5-8 quart slow cooker. Separate 3/4 cup of the cranberries for later ( and finely chop). Into the slow cooker, stir in brown sugar, port, and orange zest. Season with generous pinch of salt. Cover and cook on high for 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Step 2
Stir cranberry sauce well and set lid back on slow cooker to there is a 1-2 inch gap, allowing for evaporation. Cook on high for another 1 and a half to 2 hours, stirring at least twice, taking care around the edges, until berries have popped and the sauce has thickened and is syrupy. Stir in reserved cranberries.
Step 3
Spoon into serving bowl, cover, and chill in fridge until ready to serve.
