Ingredients

1 Tbspoil
1 lbground beef
1onion
diced
1 cupmushrooms
sliced, optional
½ cupcelery
chopped
2 clovesgarlic
smashed
1 cupbeef broth
or chicken
1 x 14 ozcan tomatoes
1 x 14 ozcan tomato sauce
1 tspbasil
¼ tsprosemary
¼ tspthyme
½ tspsalt
¼ tsppepper
2bay leaves
1 Tbspbalsamic vinegar
2 tspbrown sugar
2 cupsmacaroni pasta
or shell
½ cupParmesan
grated, or other cheese
Instructions
Step 1
Press the Saute button and when it says Hot, add the oil and the meat and brown well.
Step 2
Brown. Not grey.
Step 3
Add the onions and mushrooms and continue to saute until they start to brown, too.
Step 4
Add the celery and garlic and stir for one minute.
Step 5
Still on Saute, add the broth and quickly deglaze the pot: scrape all the brown bits off the bottom into the broth.
Step 6
This is important.
Step 7
If you skip the deglazing step, you may end up with the dreaded BURN warning and your IP will shut down.
Step 8
Add all other ingredients except the pasta and cheese and bring it to a boil.
Step 9
Stir in the pasta and close the pot.
Step 10
Set the valve to Sealing.
Step 11
Push Pressure Cook (or Manual) and adjust time using the + and - buttons to get to 4 minutes.
Step 12
When it beeps that it's done, flip the valve from Sealing to Venting for a quick release and when the pin drops after a minute or so, remove the lid.
Step 13
Remove the bay leaf.
Step 14
Serve top with the grated cheese.
