Instructions
Step 1
Whisk flour, salt and baking soda together. Put to the side.
Step 2
In a separate bowl, mix white and brown sugar together. Add the melted butter to your sugar mixture. Whisk until combined and lighter in color.
Step 3
Add the whole egg and mix until combined. Repeat with the yolk.
Step 4
Add vanilla and mix to combine. Then add flour mixture and combine.
Step 5
Once fully mixed, stir in the chocolate. One the chocolate is evenly distributed, cover it in plastic wrap and rest in the fridge for 30 minutes to 3 days.
Step 6
Once ready, pre-heat the oven to 350°F.
Step 7
Scoop your dough into small balls and place on a parchment lined baking sheet. They will spread out!
Step 8
Put your sheet in the oven and bake for 6 minutes. Then remove the cookies from the oven, and bang the sheet on the counter 3 times. This flattens the cookies and helps get that crunchy outside and gooey inside.
Step 9
Bake for another 3 minutes and repeat. Bake for 3-5 minutes as needed until done.
Step 10
Remove your cookies and let them dry on a cooling rack. Immediately top with some flakey salt and enjoy!
