Dice onion and mince garlic

Heat drizzle of olive oil in frying pan over medium high heat. When hot add onion and garlic. Cook until onion is translucent

Step 3
Add ground beef to frying pan and cover with the chili powder and cayenne. Brown the meat (cook until no more pink is visible). Use spatula to break up the meat into a crumble while cooking.

Step 4
Once beef is browned, reduce heat to low/simmer and remove pan from heat. Drain excess oil from pan into sink using spatula or pot cover to keep meat from falling out. Once sufficiently drained return pan to burner.
Step 5
Return pan to heat and add tomato sauce and brown sugar. Mix throughly and let simmer for 5-10 mins stirring occasionally.

(Optional): Toast the the buns so they don’t get soggy when adding sloppy joe meat

Turn off heat, add meat to buns, and serve.
