Step 1
Peel the rutabaga and cut it into slices about a quarter of an inch thick, maybe a little thicker. Then cut the slices into strips. Soak the strips in cold water about 10 minutes, then pour off the water and put them on a towel to get most of the water off of them.

Heat oven to 375F.

Step 3
Lightly oil a baking pan/cookie sheet with olive oil. Place the rutabaga strips on the pan, and spray them with some more oil. Sprinkle them with the salt, pepper, garlic, and any other desired spices (some use rosemary).
Step 4
Toss them around to distribute spices then arrange them on the pan so they are not touching.
Step 5
Roast them in the oven for about 25-30 minutes. If they are not browned enough on top, use the broiler to finish them up.
Step 6
Delicious plain, or with ketchup, ranch dressing, or whatever you like on French fries. Enjoy!
