Instructions

Step 1
Preheat sm. salute pan on med.-low. Once hot, toast chiles de árbol (1 min.) until toasted & fragrant. Remove from heat.
Step 2
Place tomatoes, tomatillos, jalapeños, & garlic in med. saucepan; cover with water & set on med.-high & simmer (10 min.) Tomatoes & tomatillos should be cooked and mushy; jalapeños should have softened & changed color.
Step 3
Using slotted spoon, transfer tomatoes, tomatillos, jalapeños, garlic to blender; incorporate chiles de árbol, onion, cilantro, cumin, & salt. Puree until smooth.
Step 4
Place med. saucepan on med., once hot add oil. Once oil is hot, pour in salsa; partially cover with the lid as it will splatter. Cook (4-5 min.), until thickened, seasoned, & color has deepened.
